Heidel Construction Consulting was established by Colin Heidel to bring clarity, precision, anddiscipline to the preconstruction process.
With experience spanning development, general contracting, constructionmanagement, and subcontracting, Colin has worked across all sides of theconstruction equation. This breadth of perspective revealed consistent industrychallenges: (a) ownership and management teams often lack the tools to developaccurate, reliable budgets from feasibility through project completion, and (b)subcontractors frequently need support in preparing complete and competitiveestimates.: the absence of reliable, well-developed cost insight during theearliest and most critical stages of a project.
Colin’s foundation in construction began with the hands-on restoration ofhistoric homes in Cincinnati, where an early exposure to craftsmanship anddetail shaped his standards for quality. That foundation evolved into a careerdefined by both technical expertise and strategic understanding.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from theUniversity of Cincinnati, graduating with highest honors. Early in his career,he was mentored within both a commercial land development firm and a generalcontracting environment, developing the ability to evaluate projects frominitial acquisition through competitive bid with rigor and accuracy.
Following a second 10-year stint into high-end custom residentialconstruction, Colin expanded his focus to include site development, seeking amore comprehensive understanding of projects from the ground up.
He went on to spend a decade as part of the leadership team of acommercial site development company, contributing to its growth and day-to-dayoperations. During this time, he directed all preconstruction activities,bringing structure and consistency to the estimating and planning process.
While his primary focus was preconstruction, Colin maintained activeinvolvement throughout project execution, ensuring continuity betweenearly-stage assumptions and field realities. This continuity allowed him touphold a standard of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail acrossevery phase of work.
Today,through Heidel Construction Consulting, Colin partners with owners, developers,and contractors who require a higher level of confidence in their numbers. Hisapproach is deliberate and detail-driven—focused not only on producingestimates, but on delivering insight that supports sound decision-making
